Heading East
A Welshman took the gospel to Korea. Now a church in Seoul wants to help us bring the good news back to Wales.

I'm heading east next Tuesday. Not to my native Newport for once, but instead to Seoul in South Korea.
I've been invited by Sam Ko, the entertaining Pastor who preached and sang for us one Sunday night back in May. He's asked me to speak at a conference at SaRang Community Church. The subject is "Called to Awaken the Laity."
It will be an international gathering of church leaders, and there will be many opportunities to share what we are doing as a Church to re-evangelise Wales. There's a real passion for all things Welsh in Korean churches. Christianty first took root there after the pioneering work of Welsh martyr- missionary Robert Jermain Thomas. So they care about how we are getting on.
SaRang has taken an increasing interest in Highfields in recent months. It stems from a presentation about theological training that we made to Wales Evangelical School of Theology in Bridgend, with whom they are already partnering. Since then, Pastor Ko and his church has been keen to discover more about us, and what we stand for.
So please pray for my missionary journey. I have been to Korea before and found it one of the most challenging cultures to understand. Pray for the ability to communicate the key messages that will help this church of 65,000 people to connect with us.
It is exciting to know that around 1000 members of their congregation already pray for Wales and Highfields every week. I would love to inform their praying and inspire them to partner even more with us.
