People Who Made a Difference

Inspiring Biblical Characters

Making a difference is what people of faith should be doing at every level of society.

The Bible is full of the most amazing and sometimes extraordinary examples of those whom God used to change the world in which they lived.

Geography is about maps and history is about chaps (or chapesses!), my first form tutor told class 1G.  It is the shaping of salvation history which is the focus of our mini-series on Sunday evenings. Chapesses like Eve, Sarah, Hannah, Esther, and chaps like Abraham, Josiah, Barnabas.

Not all those names appear in the Heroes of Faith, 'Hall of Fame' in Hebrews 11. But all of them were characterised to a greater or lesser extent by a transforming faith in God, who works His Sovereign purposes out through fragile people and broken lives.
And all of them deserve the description, "All these were living by faith when they died. They did not receive the things promised; they only saw them and welcomed them from a distance. And they admitted that they were aliens and strangers on earth."

The purpose of our series is to ask the question, 'Do I live with world changing faith?'
