Ministry Apprentices

An apprenticeship scheme for those interested in finding out about working in a church

The Ministry Apprenticeship programme is a really important training programme for our church and has proven to be a great success over the years in building individuals up in their faith and sending them on to further ministry areas either as full time workers or valuable volunteers. We are extremely grateful to the church for supporting our vision in offering people this great opportunity to train for future ministry and service to the church.

We are really pleased to announce that Holly Pratley who was the Ministry Apprentice who co-ordinated our Sunday services has successfully obtained a job with a large church in London called Holy Trinity Brompton (HTB). We are really pleased to see Holly using her gift in music and are really pleased to hear that she is enjoying her new role co-ordinating the Sunday worship programme over several sites and services of a large central London church.

As a church we also benefited from the enthusiasm and skills of two other MAs Caleb McKay and Jo Canning. Caleb had a special role last year playing a duel role as the Cardiff University UCCF relay worker whilst working with the male students at our church. Caleb did a fantastic job with the male students and made a great impact with the students that he got alongside. So much so that he was invited back recently to be the supporter of one of the male students getting baptised. Jo had a special focus on pre-school but interestingly before entering the programme Jo was unsure about her ability to effectively serve in the pre-school work. However, during the programme she realised that she had a particular gift and heart for the ministry and since leaving the programme has been a valued and gifted volunteer in this ministry. This just shows that having a ministry wide programme allows people to find interests and gifts that they wouldn’t ordinarily have the opportunity to explore.

This year we have changed the programme slightly to provide a full day of training and an opportunity to be part of a cross cultural mission. We have successfully obtained three Ministry Apprentices this year. Anna Huws who will be working with Students, Jude Parsons who will be working with Children and Evelyne Thomas who will be undertaking a new role in our communications ministry. We have already benefited from the passion and gifting from these three women and are excited to see how they will grow in their faith as they seek Gods calling on their lives. We pray that their time with us will be a positive, encouraging and practical experience in further developing their gifting for Christian ministry.
