Re-View: Missional Church

— filed under:

As we look towards ‘A Passion for Life’ in March this year, we can ask ourselves the question - How Missional a church are we?

The staff have started to read a book in our weekly staff meetings that challenges us with the following key mind shifts that are necessary in order for us to be effective disciple-making disciples!:

  • From running programs to building people
  • From running events to training people
  • From using people to growing people
  • From filling gaps to training new workers
  • From solving problems to helping people make progress
  • From clinging to ordained ministry to developing team leadership
  • From focusing on church polity to forging ministry partnerships
  • From relying on training institutions to establishing local training
  • From focusing on immediate pressures to aiming for long-term expansion
  • From engaging in management to engaging in ministry
  • From seeking church growth to desiring gospel growth

So how are we doing, and how can we all help to move forward in these areas?

The headings are taken from the book 'The Trellis and the Vine', by Colin Marshall and Tony Payne.
