Re-View: Small Groups

From the beginning of the Christian Church, the followers of Jesus have met together in small groups as well as gathering in larger numbers (Acts 2.46).

Our primary reason for belonging to a small group is to love and encourage each other to grow in the grace and knowledge of the Lord Jesus Christ. We do that through listening to God speak to us through the Bible, speaking to him in prayer, and caring, encouraging and building one another up in Christ, so that we are strengthened to live for Him in all the various contexts we find ourselves in.

So we encourage everyone who comes regularly to Highfields to be part of a small group. There are many of them! Life Groups meet on Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday evenings; Nexus for students meets on Tuesdays at 6.30pm; and the 20’s meet on a Thursday evening at 7.30pm. On top of that there are other small groups that meet during the day!

One of the exciting developments in the last few years has been the CentrePoint meeting. Every fourth week all evening small groups stop and gather on a Thursday evening at Centre Point. This evening is a great opportunity for everyone to meet together to study the Bible, pray and catch up on family news!

So why not think about signing up for a small group today! As you think about it, remember how the book of Hebrews encourages us; 'And let us consider how we may spur one another on toward love and good deeds. Let us not give up meeting together, as some are in the habit of doing, but let us encourage one another—and all the more as you see the Day approaching.'
