Re-View: Rachel Peddar - South Africa

I fly out to Johannesburg on Sunday 29th November. My mission is two-fold: firstly to complete two weeks of Leading and Guiding my 14-18 year old teenagers through a Scripture Union camp that runs from 13th - 18th December at Underberg, and secondly, to visit our very own Cassy Healey and family for a bit of a holiday!

I have been involved with Scripture Union camps for a good few years now, and as such, experience has made me the General Team Leader for the whole of the two weeks.

Please pray! It is both an exciting and daunting prospect. As General Team Leader I am in charge of the spiritual programme, as well as looking after the other leaders, specifically the female leaders and the female teenagers. I also have to assist the director as much as humanly possible in any area that is needed.

The theme of the camp is ‘Pay it Forward’, based on the movie of the same name about a boy who tries to change the world after being given the opportunity by his teacher.  The whole theme is tied up in what we can do for others without thought of return in our favour, the idea of self-sacrifice, and then we’ll be focussing, of course, on the Truth of the ultimate sacrifice of Jesus on the Cross.

Please pray for me. Leading is never easy, and it’s quite a big responsibility having to help look after so many people.

Please also pray that lives would be drastically changed and that teenagers would find their Lord and Saviour. Please pray that I, too, would be stretched Spiritually and that the gospel would be presented clearly. Pray also that my holiday time with the Healeys would be refreshing and well spent, and that I would only be a blessing to them.
